Method

Prepare the filling by sautéing onion, garlic, and bell pepper in vegetable oil until soft.
Add jackfruit, cumin, black pepper, salt, and soy sauce, cooking until the mixture is well combined and flavorful.
Set aside to cool.
For the pastry, mix flour, turmeric, and a pinch of salt in a large bowl.
Cut in the vegan butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
Divide the dough into small balls, then roll each into a circle.
Place a spoonful of the filling onto half of each dough circle.
Fold over and seal edges with a fork, then fry in hot oil until golden brown.
