Bring the water to a boil in a large pot.
Gradually whisk in the cornmeal and salt, reducing the heat to a low simmer.
Cook, stirring frequently, until the mixture thickens and pulls away from the sides of the pot, about 20-30 minutes.
Turn the ugali onto a serving plate and shape into a smooth mound. Serve hot.
